Rental Agreement

This is a general starter template for the agreement between an owner and a renter, not a document reviewed by a lawyer. Replace it with your own reviewed agreement before relying on it.

1. Vehicle condition

At pickup, the owner and renter should jointly note the vehicle's condition and odometer reading. At return, the same check is repeated — any new damage or excess mileage beyond what's included in the plan may be deducted from the security deposit.

2. Renter responsibilities

The renter is responsible for fuel, tolls, and any traffic or parking violations incurred during the rental period. The renter must return the vehicle by the agreed time — late returns may incur a late fee.

3. Liability and insurance

Unless otherwise stated on the listing, the renter is responsible for damage to the vehicle during the rental period beyond normal wear and tear. Owners are encouraged to disclose whether the vehicle carries insurance coverage, and what it covers, directly on the listing.

4. Security deposit

The security deposit is held through RentoWheels for the duration of the trip and released afterward, minus any deductions the owner records for damage, excess mileage, or late return, consistent with our Terms of Service.

5. Prohibited uses

The vehicle may not be used for an unlawful purpose, sublet or re-rented to another party, or driven by anyone other than the verified renter without the owner's consent.
